Happy 2018! I’ve always loved New Years Eve. It’s my favourite holiday after Christmas. I’m one of those cliched people who thinks it’s a great way to get a fresh start and wipe the slate clean. In my younger days I always found a party to go to downtown, got a hotel room and basically drink the night away. Over the years my new years celebration has been tapered waaaaaaay down. Last night I went with one friend to Yuk Yuks. I had one drink and some wings, watched the show and went home afterwards. I was in bed replying to Happy New Year texts by 1am.
Instead of entering the new year fresh with a bang, full of excitement and anticipation of all that is to come or the year, I kept it simple. I feel like that is my intention for this year. It’s going to be a reset. When I was doing some closet organization research I came across Project 333 by Courtney Carver. I’m sure everyone and their auntie has heard about making capsule wardrobes and she’s the one who started the 33 item system. I didn’t quite tackle my wardrobe yet, but I saw a course on her website that spoke to me. It’s called A Simple Year.
A Simple year is course that allows you to simplify your life by tackling a different area every month. It focuses on things like de-cluttering, cooking, finances, travel, relationships, etc. I’m not gonna lie…. $249US was a pretty penny to spend on this course (I’m Canadian and that exchange rate is hard to swallow sometimes), but I felt like it fit in nicely with my year of resetting my life. I plan on using this space to keep track of the many changes I’m hoping will come in 2018. Keep coming back to follow my journey. Or if you’re interested in A Simple Year and want to see what it’s about before you try it out for yourself, I’ll have tons of updates as I work my way through the course.
